CoolSculpting Q & A

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive body contouring treatment that uses extreme cold temperatures to destroy and eliminate fat cells. CoolSculpting is a great option for enhancing the contours of your body in areas where lingering deposits of fat refuse to improve no matter how much you diet and exercise.

Why is spot training so hard?

Spot training is the idea that you can change a small area of your body by working a particular muscle or group of muscles. While you can certainly increase muscle mass through targeted training, it’s not possible to target fatty deposits.

The truth of the matter is that everyone stores fat differently, and there are likely areas of your body that retain fat even if you’ve reached a healthy weight and remain active.

Can CoolSculpting help me lose weight?

CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment. It does reduce fat in a targeted area by 20-25% by cryolipolysis, a technology that targets and freezes fat cells.  A 25% reduction in an area of a bulge will not add up to much on a scale. However, this fat reduction can shape your body the way you want it and lead to a more sculpted appearance and help you go 1-2 sizes down in clothing.

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting works by literally freezing a portion of the targeted fat cells. That process destroys the cell and forces it to release its fat stores. Your body processes that fat and eliminates the cellular debris through your lymphatic system.

The cooling originates from the CoolSculpting treatment applicator. As the process moves forward, you might notice sensations of intense cold, stinging, tingling, cramping or aching. Once the area is numb, however, those sensations subside.

When the cells have reached the proper temperature the applicator is removed and your practitioner massages your skin to break up the frozen fat cells and encourage the elimination process to begin. The entire process takes very little time, and you can return to your normal routines immediately after your visit.
